Dear Dave,

Several years ago, myself and 3 friends decided to fish the Olympic Peninsula for Steelhead. We knew very little about the area and nothing about the guides in the area.

Myself and my partner won the lottery , as we got Dave Mallahan as a guide. David awed us with his attention to detail, his knowledge of the local rivers, his first class equipment, his boat handling skills and most of all his pleasant personality. I've taken guided drifts before, but I have never met a guide who worked as hard to give his clients the opportunity to be successful. His efforts have paid off for us as we have consistently been the top boat each day we have drifted. David puts his time and energy into his clients rather than selling his reputation.

Our February Olympic trip with David Mallahan has now become a much anticipated yearly adventure. And yes, we are already rebooked for February 2012.

Dear Dave, just wanted to say THANKS for the GREAT fishing trip on the Solduc. I can't believe I was hooking fish right off the bat, hooked and landed a 17 pounder, and a 21 pounder almost right away...9 for 14 the first day. Second day 3 for 6 with 3 keepers. To anyone reading this...I am 53 years old and this was one of the best fishing trips of my LIFE. Dave is a the best fishing guide around, so do yourself a favor and grab your stuff and get to fishing with Dave.

I haven't been fishing since I was 8 and was introduced to a whole new world of fishing that I never thought existed. Dave Mallahan of Dave's Guide Service, was without a doubt the best guide I have ever fished with.  My dad, uncle and brother flew up here from out of state, and naturally I wanted to show them a good time and get them onto fish.  We immediately got onto fish the first drift of both mornings, and even when no one else was hooking fish, Dave helped the four of us limit out.

Dave's service to his clients is second to none.  He and his bait boy, Scotty, worked incessantly to ensure that each of us never had a moment where our rods weren't in the water.  This alone was worth the trip. My dad and I have fished with many guides over the years, and Dave was absolutely the best.  His unfailing efforts to keep us onto fish have earned our repeat business, and we'll keep coming back.Trip Photos-->

Hey Dave, I came down last Thursday and had an absolute blast. I’ve fished up in Alaska for 7 years, and I thought Washington rivers would never produce the numbers of fish they have up there, but you really put us on the fish. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to have caught that many fish. Anyway, I just wanted to say “THANKS” for a great fishing trip. I’m really excited to know that I can still have fun fishing here in WA without having to go to Alaska to catch lots of fish.

Hi All! 

I had a great day fishing with Dave on the hoh river in feb. He worked hard at putting me into some fish and was an easy person to spend the day fishing with.

His approach to the day took us away from the flotilla of boats and we had the river to ourselves for the day. We hooked five steelhead and whent five for five with an 18lb. native being the biggest fish of the day.

Dave took great care in taking into account that all fish we caught would survive their upriver journey as we practiced catch and release all day thanks Dave best trip ever!

A Letter of Thanks-

I am posting this as a thank you to one of the hardest working guides that I have ever had the pleasure of fishing with.  You will not find a guide that will work harder to put you into fish than Dave does. 

In an era where a lot of guides seem to work bankers hours, launching late and taking out early, Dave continually on all my trips with him puts in more hours on the river than most. 

Having seen the excitement on Daves face when others hook fish, I can see that the excitement is still there even after all the years and thousands of steelhead that he has seen.  Having fished with him numerous times both on guided trips and just for fun I know this too be true.

Thanks Dave for all the good times that we have had and hopefully all the many more that we will have.

Thank you for all your hardwork during our guided fishing trip on the Sol Duc.   I've never had a guide work harder.

You always had a baited up rod immediately ready incase we lost a bait or hook. This meant that we had more fishing time in the slot.   You also coached my partner and me to cast together to the right spot to cover the holes properly.

What about Dave Mallahan? 

So I finally got the chance to fish with the infamous Dave Mallahan.   He showed me techniques that I never knew.   I have been fishing seriously for 12 years now and for me to learn a new trick is few and far between.

We fished the bogie on december 2nd and 3rd for winter steelhead. The going was tough for almost everyone on the river both days. But when you hire one of if not the best fishing guide on the o.p. you can expect good things to happen. To make a quick recap of it, I hooked 5 fish and landed my limit of 3 fish our first day.

I hooked four fish and,through my own mistakes, I landed only one fish my second day. Now that makes me a very happy man when I know,through talking to other fisherman,that Dave had put me in the key places,with the right techniques,and perfect instruction to get me into the most fish.

I have to say that I will definitely be back soon to fish with Dave. I say bravo to Dave for being on his game in hard conditions. I can't wait to see what happens when there's alot of fish in the system,and I am fishing with Dave again !!
